June 7th we head to Galveston for our Carnival Cruise to Jamaica and Grand Cayman. We were climbing aboard the cruise ship Conquest. Tim, Jaren and I have been on a cruise before. This is Anthony's first one. Jaren was ready and excited to go. This is Anthony's face when he catches his first glimpse of the "boat" we are going to be living on for a week. "Kym, it's huge!"And this is the first glimpse he saw.
So we unload our luggage, park the car and head in to go through customs. Then they heard us over to sit in chairs to then heard us in little by little onto the ship. We were there (of course) yearly, so the wait wasn't to long. After about an hour we were stepping into our floating home for the next week. We weren't able to get into our rooms for a little while so we just roamed around. The boys hanging out by one of the many pools on board. The first of many ice cream cones. The ice cream was one of Jaren's favorite things on the last cruise. So he was excited to be reunited with his lost friend. And this time he could reach all by himself.
The afternoon wears on and we get in our rooms, unpack and get ready for dinner. There are options to not have a set time for dinner. We chose to have the set time. We like that we can have our set table and set waiter. So me, Tim and the boys get ready and go to dinner. Here they are all ready for dinner. I think they look so handsome! Here we are at dinner. Ready for a great week at sea. Anthony had ribs the first night. And he totally enjoyed every messy ounce of them.
On the ship there are two formal nights. We boarded on Sunday, Monday night was a formal night. For some reason I didn't get to many pictures. This is one of my favorites. Me and Anthony waiting to go to dinner. It was so great to see the boys dress up. I must say they clean up nice.Every night before dinner we went to a show. They ranged from magic shows to Vegas style dance, to Broadway type shows. This was the first night we were going. This is the boys sitting waiting for the show to start. This is the boys after the show was over. Not a big hit with the kids. Not that one at least.
The first two days on the cruise we were at sea. That meant all day to just hang out and play at the pool and lay out. It was great. This is the slide the kids went down a billion times. They loved it. The one downfall is the water is salt water. So you had to keep your eye's shut tight! For that reason I went down only once. This is a view from my lounge chair. The slide is behind me to the left. Very much enough to do when you are at sea. If you aren't the burning yourself at the pool, there was volleyball, mini golf, basketball, and of course shuffleboard. Good stuff. J Bubba running by on his way to the slide.
Okay, so every night and morning when we left to go eat, we would come back and our room would be cleaned and the bed made or at night pulled down for us. We had a guy that cleaned our room and bathroom every day twice. I would hate that job. They were so sneaky. I couldn't believe he always knew when we were gone. I never saw him, probably because he was buys cleaning rooms. Anywho, at night when we got back there was a towel animal waiting for us. I took a picture of our favorites. Puppy, Gorilla, Elephant, Um, Dinasour? Anteater? You make it what you want.
Our first stop, Jamaica. I was super excited when we decided to go on this cruise. Jamaica always seem the picture perfect tropical escape. Needless to say it was for sure not that picture perfect. I have seen it now I don't have to go back. The ship docked and we started filing out. It was super hot and even more humid. On our way to experience Jamaica.
We headed to the port authority to get our transportation around the city of Montego Bay. The first stop was a flea market type place. We get out of the shuttle and we were bombarded by ladies wanting us to "see their shop". It was not a fun shop. The ladies were to pushy. We got back into our shuttles and headed to the next stop. This is Montego Bay. This was a picture I took out the window as we were driving by. The next stop was in the center town mall. It was an interesting place. There were ladies selling fruit that they were caring in baskets on their head. This lady was singing a song about how she loves Jamaica it is her home. Then people would give her a couple dollars to take a picture with her. Even in Jamaica they have Burger King and KFC. We were ready to eat, the boys wanted to try the Burger King. We had something a little more local in mind. This is the Pork Pit. The cruise director told us about this place. It was SO good. Jamaica is known for it's "jerk" meat. I guess it is the spice they put on it and how they cook it. It was so tender and so good. Yummy, this might have been my favorite part of Jamaica. After we paid for our food we went over to this pit and picked it up. It was so good. After lunch we found a local beach and took the kids to swim. They couldn't wait to get in the water. As you can see it was rainy. The boys didn't care, they just wanted to swim. This is Anthony on the water tramp. This is Jaren jumping off to make a big splash!
This is the restaurant that was on the beach. I thought it was an abandoned building from the road. But they were serving food and drinks. A view of the beach from the restaurant. The sand was beautiful, the water was warm and clear. For those reasons it was beautiful. I really don't need to go back though.
Our next stop was Grand Cayman. It was absolutely beautiful.
The boat anchored down and we had to take tender boats into shore.
The water was crystal clear and 80 degrees.
We booked and excursion to go to a place called Sting Ray City. There is a sand bar about 10 mailes out from the island. This sand bar is home to a bunch of sting rays. They are used to people out there, they actually depend on us to feed them everyday. So it is totally safe. It was pretty cool to have these animals so close you can touch them. They were swimming up to us and letting us pet them. The water we were in we could stand up, the sting ray's would swim through our legs and stuff. Here is a picture of Tim and J in the water with the sting ray swimming by. It was pretty neat.
After Sting Ray city we headed to Rum Point Beach. The beach was beautiful and the water amazing. Anthony found this conch shell. There was still the little animal inside. My little slice of heaven. I could have stayed there forever. Well almost. It was seriously beautiful though.
The last two days at sea were long. I was ready to come home. We all looked forward to the dinners though. Anthony was so good to try new things. Here he is trying fried clams. For the record, he didn't like them very much. But he did try it. He dances too. He was so funny, totally ate up every opportunity to do something new. I loved that.
The last night at dinner we went a little goofy and took these crazy family pictures. They are fun, and wraps up a fun week in the Caribbean. Funny, Crazy and fun to be around. I had to throw this one in just to show how funny Tim can be. It was a good week.
I do have to thank my mother in law for taking such good care of my little man while we were gone. I missed him like crazy, but it was nice to have break. I feel really blessed to have someone come and keep him safe. Thanks Linda, I really do appreciate it.
That is our week on Carnival Conquest in a nut shell. Enjoy, your going to need a lot of time to read through this. But I did promise I would share. So hope you enjoyed it.

Love the photos, so glad you were able to go! The beach look a lot like Carmel Beach in California!
So do the boys swim? or did you have to catch them at the bottom of the slide?
Love that photo of you with the great tan or is that a sunburn? Did you take your aloe vera with you?
Love you,
Twila and Uncle Chris
