It has been very busy in the Walsh family the past few weeks. Anthony playing on two baseball teams. His little league team is the Rangers, he pitches and plays center. His hitting has improved 100%. It is exciting to see him improve before our eyes.
This past weekend we went to a tournament in Odessa. The second annual West Texas Shootout. On Saturday we have pool play. That just means they play two games to put them into a seed...then we play single elimination on Sunday. Our team wasn't playing so well on Saturday. The first game was at 9am we played the Tall City Stars. We ended up tying them.
Anthony's bat was on fire! He hit ball after ball. He has the highest on base average of the team. He is fast enough that it is hard to pick him off. Really fun to watch him run the bases.
The second game we played the Diesel. I think this team has become our rivals. It is a really hard team to beat. We have played them once before and we went into extra innings...and lost. This time we were winning and then in the last inning we let them come back and tie us. So in pool play it stays as a tie. This is Anthony coming across the base to score his point. He had an outstanding Saturday...played really well.
Since we tied both games on Saturday we were seeded close to the bottom. The boys played their first game at 9am on Sunday. It was super cold and really windy...but they did an outstanding job and won that first game.
The second game we played was against the Dawgs. Once again the boys were swinging their bats and catching fly balls and their throws were on point. It was great to watch them play....we knew if we won that game we were going to play the Diesel next. Right after we beat the Dawgs we played Diesel. We beat them 11-1. It felt so good to play that team and finally beat them. I know the boys felt the same way. By this point the boys had played three games and we were headed to the championship game. They had done it. Worked their way from the bottom right up to the top. The Championship game was played against the Assassins. The boys did awesome. We beat them 8-0. We had won the West Texas Shootout!!! We were very excited about that. It had been a VERY long day...but it was so worth it. Anthony doing his happy dance.
A very happy group of very tired boys.
Here is your 2009 West Texas Roughnecks. These boys have now won two Championships, and one Second place. That is out of four tournaments played. Pretty good stats!!! Good job boys!
Anthony showing off his trophy.
You may be wondering what our other two boys have been up to. Jaren is playing soccer with the Red Raiders. His uniform just came in so I will for sure get some pictures up this weekend after his game. Conor....he is just growing up and getting big. He loves his brothers and is more happy with them then anywhere. Here is Jaren and Conor playing out on the soccer field before Jaren's practice. Conor always has to be doing something!
He might be a little confused...he is trying to kick a baseball like a soccer ball? I just let him do it for a while. It was keeping him entertained.
That is what we have been up to. Our life consists of running boys to and from practices and games. You know what....I wouldn't have it any other way!!

Well it looks like your family spends most of your time at your children's sporting events. that is great that your boys are so talented. I can't wait for Landen to be old enough to play sports.
