This years theme is the above poster. The whole plot is really funny and a little crude. There is a villain and a good guy. Every time the Villain comes out we had to boo, when the Good guys came out we cheered. A lot of crowd interaction.
We walk in and get to our seats (which were in the pit by the way) and Tim and JP buy a tray of popcorn. I'm thinking crap that is a lot of popcorn. Um, by the end of the first intermission we needed to buy another tray. I wish I could explain the amount of popcorn thrown. You see, we could have thrown the popcorn at the bad guys, but we ended up just throwing it at other people. There was popcorn EVERYWHERE! There are rules, we were only supposed to throw popcorn during the intermission. Um, that didn't happen. There was popcorn thrown all the time. Like bags of popcorn over people's heads. Tim would take it and twist it in his hands so that little pieces would be in your hair. He is brutal!
"Popcorn, the other white meat" or "Why popcorn?"
Over 30,000 bags of popcorn are sold each season.
87% of it is thrown at the Bad Guys.
99% of that doesn't make it to the stage.
By the end of each night's performance, the entire floor (and many tables) of the Yucca Theatre are covered.
The record for one-night popcorn sales stands at just over $3000.00. Three-month totals usually come in at approximately $50,000.00.
Thanks to the our patrons, the popcorn loving (and throwing) public, Summer Mummers is able to contribute substantially to the operating budget of Midland Community Theatre.
I found this on the website, just a little idea at how much popcorn there really is! Seriously, there was popcorn everywhere! Here is a picture I found,
EVERYWHERE!!!
So of course at the end Good triumphs over Evil. Then it is time for the Olio and that is basically just little skits. This was my favorite part! I enjoyed every bit of it. It kinda reminded me of SNL, but a little more crude. Funny though, I was rollin!
These are the Olio girls, the do burlesque type dancing. It was good, you know the Can Can and such.
Anyway I just wanted to share my experience. It was so much fun and there really is "no way to explain it, you just have to experience it". If anyone wants to come visit I will take you to the show! Totally a must see. Super Fun!

How fun! It's always that stuff you never hear about that turns out to be the best!
I saw that on your myspace and I wondered what it was. I'm glad you posted about it. I think I've heard of that before. I could handle the popcorn - it's nasty, but not too nasty, so the ride home wouldn't be disgusting...
Now, can you imagine smelling like that almost everyday???? I did, when I worked at the prestigious theaters in Show Low. Ah the glory days! Anyways, it was fun reading about your experience, sounds like a great time. I also LOVED reading about your boys baseball days, that is so neat.
