The Simple Things

So yesterday afternoon we spent the afternoon playing basketball with the family and some friends. Then we came home and went out onto the patio and watched the kids play outside. I watched my youngest pick up a ball and follow Anthony around the yard. When Anthony would through the baseball Conor would copy him, then run and pick up the baseball just to do it again. He is so happy outside. It is the simple things that make life so great. I could have sat there all afternoon and watched my kids play in the yard. What could be better?
This leads me to another thought. I had the notion in my head that I had the big chore of teaching Conor how to do everything. But as the year has gone by (very quickly I might add)I have noticed that I don't teach him very much. He learns from watching us. The other night he picked my cell phone put it to his ear and started saying "Dada, dada". Then he looked at it like it should talk back to it. When Tim calls me throughout the day he takes a few minutes and talks to Conor. Well Conor wanted to talk to his Dad and so he went and found my cell phone and he wasn't there.
Then this morning I was loading the dishwasher and he was of course helping me. I put the dish soap in there and he closed the little flap. Yep I guess he as watched me do that a couple of times. He has taken the TV remote and pointed it at the TV hoping to change the channel. I gave him a toothbrush the other day, he stuck it in his mouth and moved his head around, he has watched us brush our teeth a couple of times I guess. This mornging when I was brushing my teeth he went and found his toothbrush and did the same thing. Fun stuff! This is the best time of my life with this little man!
This makes me sure that I have to do exactly what I would want him to do, he is constantly watching people and following what they do. So cute.
One other thought and I will be done with this post. One of my disapointments this last year is not taking more pictures. So my attempt to make up for that is there are going to be a lot this next year. So you will probably be seeing lots of pictures.
